内容記述 | This paper aims to clarify the effectiveness of indigenous teaching materials in local areas within the integrated study period framework. Emerging from the renewal of the national curriculum standards for elementary schools in 1998, the integrated study period spans from grades three through six in Japanese elementary schools. Learning experiences rooted in local areas, including fieldwork, are pivotal not only in geography but also in integrated studies. Teachers can utilize various teaching materials in the local area, including human, physical, geographical, and historical phenomena. Children derive affective benefits by incorporating a comprehension of local places and engaging with community members. They acquire a positive attitude toward learning through a period of integrated studies in local areas. Integrated studies on Mt. Fuji lasted for over 30 years in Fujinomiya City, Shizuoka Prefecture. Furthermore, the Takiyama castle ruins in Hachioji City, Tokyo, serve as valuable resources for inquiry-based learning. Outdoor research enables children to better understand their surroundings and locality. This learningenhances a positive attitude toward planning inquiries in the local area. | |||||||||
