Revising the P.E. classes’ curriculum guidelines have been fully implemented since 2020. In doing so, the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT) is aiming to improve educational methods. This is in response to an era in which social structures are rapidly changing due to the progress of globalization and constant technological innovation, which demonstrates the necessity of this change. When considering how to achieve the goals of the P.E. department based on the characteristics of apparatus gymnastics, instructors are faced with a major challenge. There are many equipments that cannot be used to improve skill, unless under professional guidance, or else injuries may occur. Therefore, teachers are required to have the basic teaching skill that can be used by children of any motor ability, as well as having a high level of expertise. Based on these points, this study confirmed the content of the basic instructional skills required for apparatus gymnastics, such as mat exercises.
