However, such a “passive” reform to active learning involves a\nvariety of issues, such as class activities being formal and problems to solve being too simple\nto foster creativity.\n On the other hand, during the Edo period, many people throughout Japan positively enjoyed\nlearning mathematics without being forced to do so.
